Home of the 12th Man Signage Receiving an Upgrade

Aug 13, 2018 | Football

COLLEGE STATION - When fans entered Kyle Field this past Sunday to watch Coach Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M football team work out, they may have noticed the signage "Home of the 12th Man" missing from the east side, third deck facade.

Texas A&M and Kyle Field is still "Home of the 12th Man" but the lettering along the third deck of the east facade is undergoing an upgrade. The font will match the lettering throughout Kyle Field and this change will also allow for back lighting of the "Home of the 12th Man". Instead of two static scoreboards flanking the signage, another stretch of video ribbon board will be in place.

The updated lettering and video ribbon board will be in place prior to the Aggies' season opener on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Kyle Field.

The Class of 1988 originally gifted the lettering for "Welcome to Aggieland" on the third deck facade and "Home of the 12th Man" on the second deck facade in front of the Aggie students standing in support of the Aggie football.

With the redeveloped Kyle Field, "Welcome to Aggieland" has moved to the west side of the stadium while "Home of the 12th Man" will remain on the east side third deck facade.

The original letters have been removed and are currently stored at The Association of Former Students.

The Class of '88 continues to be recognized for the gift with a plaque that is in the entry way at entrance 8 on the east side of the Kyle Field.
